Whether you’re a classical music fan or just interested in discovering if you could be, indulge your cultural curiosity at Rush Hour Concerts at St. James Cathedral.
As featured in the “What Works” series on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams in 2008, RH offers a burst of culture specifically designed for busy, contemporary lifestyles. Its unique format offers a complete social and cultural experience that is free and welcoming to all.
Meet your friends and chat with the performers over refreshments at 5:15 p.m. before settling into the historically significant and architecturally stunning Cathedral. Then, experience world-class music making at 5:45 p.m. with a free 30-minute concert by Grammy-winning and critically-acclaimed artists from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Chicago Chamber Musicians, and around the world.
Want to learn more about the music? Gain insight into the performance with informative program booklets and personal conversations with the artists. As a Rush Hour audience member, you’ll be relaxed, refreshed, and ready for the rest of your summer evening in less than an hour.
In 2009, Rush Hour celebrates its 10th season with a special performance of “A Cello Celebration,” voted by the audience as its favorite concert event from the first 10 years. Rush Hour also continues its partnerships with the Consulates General of France, Germany, and Switzerland to present concerts focusing on each country’s culture, music, and cuisine.
Every Tuesday from June through August, RH invites you to join hundreds of other concertgoers who already make this innovative series part of their summer “must-do” list.
