Cathedral Chapter

Historically, a "Cathedral Chapter" is the governing body for a cathedral as it relates to the diocese, separate from a "Cathedral Vestry" which acts as the governing body for a parish within a cathedral. At St. James Cathedral, the two bodies are combined and our Cathedral Chapter is made up of the Bishop, the Dean or Provost, nine elected members of the parish, and up to six members elected at the Diocesan Convention or appointed by the Bishop.

The Chapter meets monthly, generally on the second Tuesday of the month. Meetings are open to all members of the Cathedral (except for times when the Chapter goes into "executive session" for reasons of confidentiality).
