Cathedral Chapter

Historically, a Cathedral Chapter is the governing body for a cathedral as it relates to the diocese, separate from a Cathedral Vestry, which acts as the governing body for a parish within a cathedral. At St. James Cathedral, the two bodies are combined. Our Cathedral Chapter is made up of the Bishop, the Dean, the Warden for Adminstration (Senior Warden), the Warden for Real Assets (Junior Warden), nine elected members from the parish, and six members (three clergy, three laypersons) elected at the Diocesan Convention or appointed by the Bishop.

Members of the Cathedral Chapter serve on one of six Commissions, which also include non-Chapter members and members of the Cathedral staff.

The Cathedral Chapter meets monthly, generally on the second Tuesday of the month. Meetings are open to all members of the Cathedral (except for times when the Chapter goes into "executive session" for reasons of confidentiality).
