Giving & Stewardship
St James Cathedral is one of Chicago’s oldest churches, and from its founding in 1834 its mission has been to know and serve God. St James Cathedral is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, and all contributions are U.S. tax-deductible. Here are ways you can donate and become involved:
GENERAL OFFERING
General donations allow St. James Cathedral to fulfill our call to be a witness for God’s love, and to continue our more than 175-year heritage of vibrant and exciting worship, outreach and hospitality. Your contribution, however large or small, helps cover operational expenses and keep our various missions and ministries alive and thriving.
PLEDGE
Making and fulfilling an annual pledge of support is among the most essential commitments members of St. James Cathedral can make. Pledges allow us to budget wise we offer ministries and services to our members and the wider community. Whether you pledge at $1,000 a month or $1 dollar a week, every dollar counts!

SUMMER IN THE CITY
Support Summer in the City at the Cathedral, our two-week summer camp for children in the heart of the city. Please give as generously as you can. Every dollar helps families of youngsters who cannot afford to pay the $680 tuition. Help children experience two weeks of new friends, food, fun, and fantastic exposure to cultural activities with the city of Chicago as their campground!
FRIENDS OF CATHEDRAL MUSIC
You are invited to support the Cathedral Concerts programs by direct financial contribution of any amount. By so doing, you will join many others who value these events as a part of their community. Our long-range goal is to make the Cathedral Concerts open to all free of charge --- with your support we can move closer to this goal. All contributions to the Friends of Cathedral Music are directed exclusively to the presentation of these concert events. Contributions do not support the larger ministries of St. James Cathedral nor do they become a part of the operating budget of the Cathedral. We thank you for your generous support and look forward to welcoming you our next Cathedral Concert event!
FLOWER FUND
Fresh flowers on the altars at St. James in praise to God are provided each week through gifts made to the flower ministry. If you would like to sponsor a specific Sunday, enter the DATE next to the amount of your donation. The suggested donation is $70 to $140.
IN MEMORY / IN HONOR
If you would like to remember someone close to you by making a donation in their memory, we can help you do so. Simply enter the name of your loved one next to your donation and specify to whom we should send a note of your gift. This is a valuable and positive way to celebrate the life of a loved one while helping St. James Cathedral further its mission
