Chapter Meeting Minutes
November 8th, 2005
Members Present- Robert Black, The Very Rev. Ralph Blackman (Dean), John Clarke, Tom Eley (ex officio), Sharon Johnson, Pamela Lightcap, Ann Meuse, Ron Mui, Elsa Vaintzettel (ex officio).

Meeting called to order at 5:51 p.m. with sharing of our prayer requests and thanksgivings. An opening prayer was offered by Ralph Blackman.
A supper was provided for by Tom Eley.
The meeting was adjourned briefly to allow participants to get their suppers.
On motion made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the meeting held October 11 were approved.
Treasurer’s Report Elsa Vaintzettel gave the Treasurer’s report including a review of the balance sheet and expense and income statements through October 2005. Elsa pointed out the change made regarding the Paul Robert Fund was dissolved, and the amounts were reallocated to a 50/50 split to the Friends of Cathedral Music Fund and Arts & Music Funds - Other.
On motion made, seconded and carried, the Treasurer’s report was received.
Stewardship Ralph Blackman and Pamela Lightcap reported that the ingathering for the 2006 pledges would take place on Sunday, November 13th. We have in to date approximately $134,500 in pledges. An update on the pledge totals will be given at the December Chapter meeting.
Dean’s Report Deanery: The Dean reported that the Deanery needs a new roof. A quote for $5,500 was provided by Casten Roofing.
On motion made, seconded and carried, the $5,500 was approved for a new Deanery roof.
Building Issues: The Dean reported that the Bishop had sent out a letter to the Diocese about the Canyon Ranch aspect of the new building. A report was also offered regarding the HVAC agreement.
Wardens’ Report Staffing Task Force: Ann Meuse reported that the interviews with the existing staff are currently being done.
By Laws Task Force: Ann Meuse reported on behalf of Marianne Culver that a general conversation has started and individuals have been invited to participle. There will be changes that will need to integrated based on developments in the building project and between the Diocese and the Cathedral.
Staff Report Music Program: Bruce Barber reported that the Mozart Festival raised $3,000 to send to the Episcopal Relief and Development for the Natural Disaster relief. St. Francis Day Evensong & Pet Blessing raised $1,000 to PAWS to help the animals impacted by the hurricanes. Reminder about the Advent Procession of Lessons & Carols will be held on Advent 2 (December 4).
Other Business Arts & Music: Robert Black was thanked for coordinating the soundscape exhibit from Jeff Talman. Details on the dates and times for the exhibit was provided and all Chapter members were encouraged to attend. Artists are currently being invited to offer works of art based on the theme of enemies. This exhibit will be installed during Lent.
Consortium of Endowed Parishes:All Chapter members were encouraged to attend.
Youth Ministries: The Dean offered an update on the current offerings for the youth of St. James. The Youth are currently doing outreach on the second Sunday of every month by going to Montgomery Place and worshiping with that community. On the third Sunday of every month, they are continuing with the Sandwich ministry.
Summer in the City: The Dean reported that Dean Niedenthal requested that we explore the option of taking the Summer in the City from a one-week program to a two-week program.
On motion made, seconded and carried, given proper budgeting, the exploration of moving to a two-week program was approved.
Elsa Vaintzettel offered to provide food for the November meeting.
Meeting was adjourned, with a prayer offered by the Dean, at 7:20 p.m.
