OUTREACH & MISSIONS... BE OPENED TO THE WORLD
Be Opened to the World: in the work of making justice and making friends; in sharing the beauty of our artistic gifts, the passion of our ethical concerns, the sanctuary of our space.
At St James, the Cathedral Chapter and Parish Council together are committed to enlarge our footprint in our neighborhood, in our city and around the world. We are opened to the world through our St James Cafe, through our peace and justice initiative of feeding the hungry, ministering to the poor, and the homeless, through our Cathedral Concert Series, and Rush Hour Concerts. We feed our neighbors. We invite young people to Summer in the City. We travel to New Orleans to rebuild homes; we travel to Southeast Mexico and to Sudan to share the hopes and dreams of our sisters and brothers in Christ. When we march in the Pride Parade, we show the world that God stands with all God's creation in the struggle for dignity and equal rights. We work with Seabury-Western, Cathedral Counseling, the Episcopal Church Women and Episcopal Relief and Development to carry our congregation's spirit into the sacred spaces of people around the world.
At St James, we invite the world to join us in our journey of faith by keeping the Commons open for prayer, retreat, rest and rejuvenation, so that all of the people of the city are empowered to go in peace ... to love and serve the Lord and one another.
