Music in the Cafe (Music in the Neighborhood)

Music in the Cafe (Music in the Neighborhood) provides a place of casual music and relaxation at the end of the day, Thursday's during the summer.  Folk, jazz, roots,  blues and world musicians play in the cafe or in the South Garden depending on weather.  This is a place for neighbors to come relax and enjoy a little refreshment.

Cathedral Concert Series

Rush Hour Concerts

Rush Hour Concerts at St. James Cathedral promote the experience of classical music in a welcoming, widely accessible, relevant, and culturally rich environment that fosters a sense of community by presenting weekly, free, world-class concert events throughout the summer in Chicago.

Exhibits

Art Exhibits in the Cathedral space are used to teach, raise consciousness, delight the senses and surround our members with life's suffering and beauty.  Examples include the marking of the 4,000's US soldier killed in Iraq, the Keiskamma Altar memorializing an African village's loss of life to aids and the life stories of those suffering from extended poverty.

Ecumenical and Interfaith

Ecumenical and Interfaith work starts with the religious institutions that are in close proximity to St. James.  Currently we are in partnership with the Parliament of World Religions' year long Sacred Space project with the Methodist Temple, Sinai Congregation, Fourth Presbyterian , 17th Christian Scientist, the Mid-west Buddhist Temple and Old St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church.
