Pastoral Care

Be Opened to Each Other...

In care for human hurt and in celebration of human gifts, in attitudes and actions that build up a community living out of the Gospel.

At St James, we are opened to each other through our care for each other, coming together at social gatherings, and by communicating the good news of the Gospel to our neighbors, in the city, and throughout the world. The journey of faith within a worshipping community must be nourished and cared for. God calls us to worship, to pray, to give of our financial resources, to grow our spiritual home, and to fund programs that nourish our spiritual life together.  Empowering our congregation to carry out the Chapter's vision and mission is the work of the Parish Council. We are opened to each other through Christian formation, such as Sunday School or Education for Ministry (EfM). When we gather outside of worship, we make ourselves available to each other, to discover and learn the context of our faith beliefs within the world we live in. In the St James Cafe, we sit over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine to spend time together, nourishing our souls through the arts, and music and conversation.

Pastoral Care

Our Pastoral Care team invites the Cathedral community to take care of each other beyond the walls of the Cathedral. Lay Eucharistic Ministers share communion with those who cannot make it to a worship service during times of illness and recovery. They are our first contact for hospital visits and care for the sick and recovering.

Wellness Ministry

The Wellness ministry works with our Pastoral Care team to host the Wellness Fair. Not only does this ministry encourage health and wellness but the also provide our community with a theological context for end-of-life issues such as hospice or medical directives.
