Beautiful Voice The old and new meet as one in Bella Voce. We rediscover our roots in the majestic, intensely spiritual music of the Tudor era, the music that formed our sound, and apply that same pristine, unified, and emotionally charged singing to living American masters of choral sonority. It’s what we exemplify in all the music we do, and it’s where we get our name, Bella Voce: “beautiful voice.” Central to our program are English Renaissance master Robert White and the living American rock star of choral music, Eric Whitacre. Meditate on White’s poignant and timeless Lamentations of Jeremiah. Revel in the shimmering, gorgeous dissonances of Eric Whitacre’s Sleep and Water Night.

Benefit Concert for Keiskamma Trust and UbuMama Suggested donation: $25 featuring renowned folk and jazz singer/songwriter Claudia Schmidt
UbuMama is a Zulu word for motherhood, and an arts-based project dedicated to bringing mothers' stories of giving birth in the developing world into public view, to honor the lives of mothers and to increase the commitment to saving the lives of women dying in childbirth. Each minute, a woman dies from complications experienced during pregnancy and childbirth. More than 500,000 women die each year and 99% of these deaths occur in the developing world. Almost all of these deaths are preventable.
The Keiskamma Trust exists to foster hope and health as well as pride and self respect amongst the people living by the Keiskamma River, a desperately poor area of the Eastern Cape of South Africa. By combining Aids treatment, Art Projects and Education Initiatives the Trust has been able to take the fight against Poverty and HIV/AIDS to the very heart of the community. The Keiskamma Arts Project is responsible for the creation of the Keiskamma Altarpiece, on display at St. James Cathedral, March 27-May 11.
