Forged in Fire: From Age to Age - 150 Years of Resilience & Vision

October 5, 2025 marks the beginning of a year of celebrations at St James Cathedral, Chicago in which we will observe a significant milestone anniversary: the 150th anniversary of the reopening of our historic worship space following its rebuilding after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

On October 9, 1874, St. James parishioners held a service of rededication, celebrating its rising from the ashes, and commissioning the already historic and influential house of worship for what has become another 150 years of service in this great city of Chicago.
