Pastoral Care Team
Pastoral care touches the hearts and souls of those in need by lessening the impact of being alone, ill, or overwhelmed. If you are in need or know of someone who would benefit from one of the following services, please let us know by emailing the Rev. Canon Lisa Hackney-James.
- Hospital or home visits to comfort, to talk, and/or to pray and may include the Eucharist.
- Lay Eucharist ministry serves those unable to attend Sunday morning Eucharists.
- Names added to the St. James Cathedral prayer list, posted in the Sunday bulletin, and prayed for at weekly prayer meetings
The St. James Cathedral community holds in prayer those we know and, often, many we do not know. We pray as a community in the weekly Prayers of the People and, for those who request specific petitions, we pray individually through our Prayer Providers. Prayer providers pray daily for four or five specific individuals whose needs have been made known to them.
Prayers of the People are read aloud during Sunday services. After a month on the prayer list, if requested by the petitioner, names are placed on a long-term list. The names of all on whose behalf we pray are listed at the back of each Sunday service’s bulletin and in the St. James Cathedral weekly e-news.
Please email the Rev. Judy Jackson with prayer requests. You will be contacted periodically for updates so your prayer provider may speak to current concerns or accomplishments.
If you are drawn to pray for others, to engage in conversation with God on behalf of those who seek prayerful support, and to join the community of the St. James Prayer Providers, please email the Rev. Judy Jackson.
For pastoral emergencies, please call (773) 242-9739 to reach a member of the clergy staff.
