When you visit St. James Cathedral on Easter morning, expect to receive a warm welcome! Whether you are a committed follower of Christ, an occasional visitor who appreciates our programming, or fall somewhere in between, you are welcome here without conditions or expectations.

Plan your visit

Easter Day is filled with activity! There are three services of Holy Eucharist, an Easter Egg Hunt for children at 10 a.m., and refreshments and conversation in the Welcome Center. Learn more about the services below.

It is not uncommon for people to either dress casually or formally when visiting the Cathedral. Our priority is that you to feel comfortable.

Children are always welcome at St. James. The 9 a.m. service is designed to actively engage them in worship. Childcare is provided during the 11 a.m. service for kids of all ages.

The cathedral is accessible to people with limited mobility. An access ramp is located at the west end of the building, 65 E. Huron St.

Easter Day Schedule

  • Holy Eucharist at 8 a.m., sometimes called Mass or Holy Communion, is a spoken service in the cathedral. If you like to celebrate Easter bright and early, this service is for you.
  • Holy Eucharist at 9 a.m. is a service suitable for all ages but tailored to young families. Children actively engage in the readings, sermon, and Communion and the choristers lead music. If you have young children or are young at heart, this service is particularly inviting.
  • Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. for children in the cathedral. After the 9 a.m. service, children and families are invited to enjoy snacks, coffee, and conversation until the eggs are hidden. Then, time for even more Easter joy!
  • Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m., sometimes called Mass or Holy Communion, is a grand, "cathedral" service. If great music with the Cathedral Choir and organ lift your spirit, this service is for you. Childcare provided at 10:45 a.m.
