Thanksgiving Sunday Meal

Sunday, Nov. 24 at 10 a.m.

As Episcopalians, we give thanks for all the blessings of this life and for whatever draws us closer to God. As members of St. James Cathedral, we don't just pray...we party! If you are looking for a lovingly-prepared meal and some enriching conversation this Thanksgiving, join us at the cathedral as we give thanks for you!

When you visit St. James Cathedral on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, expect to receive a warm welcome! Whether you are a committed follower of Christ, a first-time visitor who is joining a friend, or fall somewhere in between, you're not just welcome, you belong!

Plan your visit

On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the members of St. James are especially thankful for you, our guests! There are two services of Holy Eucharist at 8 and 10 a.m. and a family-style, Thanksgiving meal following the service at 10 a.m. Members of St. James will bring their family's signature dishes to share over lively conversation.

It is not uncommon for people to either dress casually or formally when visiting the Cathedral. Our priority is that you to feel comfortable.

Children are always welcome at St. James. There is an open space to the front right of the pews for children to play under your supervision and a changing station for parents of our youngest members under the church in the restrooms.

The cathedral is accessible to people with limited mobility. An access ramp is located at the west end of the building, 65 E. Huron St.

Thanksgiving Sunday Schedule

  • Holy Eucharist at 8 a.m. sometimes called Mass or Holy Communion, is a spoken service in the cathedral. If you like to be at church bright and early, this service is for you.
  • Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m. is a special service where our two later congregations combine to give thanks for the blessing of family and friends, the beauty of the earth, and the love of God given to us in Jesus.
