Cathedral Member Kim Moreland Selected For Inaugural Cohort of Kanuga Fellows
July 02, 2025
We are delighted to share the news that St. James Cathedral's own Kim Moreland will join the inaugural cohort of Kanuga Fellows. Kim is one of about 40 people selected through a very competitive process open to all-faith lay and clergy leaders from around the country.
The Kanuga Fellows Program (KFP) is a spiritual leadership program that nurtures a deep connection between God, nature, and the calling to lead with wisdom and grace. Rooted in Episcopal tradition and inspired by God’s creation, KFP equips leaders to grow spiritually while drawing from the natural world. Supported by a grant from Trinity Church NYC, the program seeks to reimagine faith-based, spiritual leadership along the core values of mutuality, respect, sustainability and stewardship.
Kim will participate at the end of September in the first of four in-person immersions of the two-year residency at Kanuga, an Episcopal camp and conference center. She is looking forward sharing her KFP learnings and blessings with the St. James community.

St. James Celebrates Pride
July 02, 2025
As a conclusion to Pride Month, the St. James LGBTQ+ Affinity Group (yes, we all agree we need a new name!) led us in witnessing to God's inclusive love both inside and outside our doors. A group departed from the labyrinth early Sunday morning (complete with a special blessing from our guest preacher, the Rev. Michael Sullivan) to participate in the Pride Parade with the Chicago Coalition of Welcome Churches. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, another group staffed a hospitality table in the Cathedral narthex offering water, a place to cool off, and pride flags to remind everyone of the God's welcome of all. Special thanks to Russell and Jillyn from the LGBTQ+ Affinity Group for leading and organizing these activities.
