St. James Arts Council Meets September 7

Interested in the arts and its place in the work and culture of St. James? Join us for our first St. James Arts Council meeting of the fall. We will meet after the 11:00 service on September 7 in the library on the 2nd floor of the modern building. Please contact Michael Stauffer for more information.

The Arts Council of St. James Cathedral seeks to inspire, engage, and connect the community through the transformative power of the arts. Through these efforts, we aim to foster dialogue, promote cultural understanding, and provide a sacred space where art and faith intersect to nurture the soul and uplift the community to the glory of God.

Volunteer Opportunity: 9 a.m. Service Acolytes and Adult Worship Volunteers

As we kick off a new program year, it’s the perfect time to jump in! We’re looking for youth acolytes and adult volunteers for the 9 a.m. service. There are a variety of ways to participate, based on age and interest. Want to be part of the action? Reach out to Olivia Elliott and stick around after the 9 a.m. service on Sunday, September 7 for a brief training.

Save the Dates for Fall Kickoff Activities and Schedule Adjustments

August 14, 2025

  • Sunday, August 24 – Sunday School ‘Soft Opening’ with activities for children of all ages following the 9 a.m. service.
  • Monday, September 1 – Labor Day - No 12:10 Eucharist, Cathedral offices closed
  • Tuesday, September 2 – Weekday 9 a.m. Morning Prayer via Zoom resumes.
  • Wednesday, September 3 – Wednesday evening activities resume with 5:45 p.m. Evensong led by the Choristers, 6 p.m. community dinner in the Great Hall, and adult formation at 6:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 7 – Choristers resume singing at the 9 a.m. service and the full Cathedral Choir at the 11 a.m. service.
  • Sunday, September 7 – Welcome Back Sundae Sunday. All teachers, parents, youth, and children, meet in Kyle's Place at 10:00 am for ice cream Sundaes, enroll in Sunday School and Youth Group, and learn about the brand new curricula for the school year. There are classes in Christian formation and education for all ages 0 through 17.
