Rediscover Sunday

Sunday, Sep. 22 at 8, 9, and 11 a.m.

As Episcopalians, we believe that God loves you, no exceptions. As members of St. James Cathedral, we do too! If you have been a church-goer in the past or had a fleeting interest in attending more regularly, come and see for yourself why Sunday mornings are central to the lives of those who worship at the cathedral.

When you visit St. James Cathedral on Rediscover Sunday, expect to receive a warm welcome! Whether you are a committed follower of Christ, a first-time visitor who is joining a friend, or fall somewhere in between, you're not just welcome, you belong!

Plan your visit

Sundays at St. James are filled with activity! There are three services of Holy Eucharist and special refreshments and conversation in the Welcome Center.

It is not uncommon for people to either dress casually or formally when visiting the Cathedral. Our priority is that you to feel comfortable.

Children are always welcome at St. James. The 9 a.m. service is designed to actively engage them in worship. Childcare is provided during the 11 a.m. service for kids of all ages.

The cathedral is accessible to people with limited mobility. An access ramp is located at the west end of the building, 65 E. Huron St.

Rediscover Sunday Schedule

  • Holy Eucharist at 8 a.m., sometimes called Mass or Holy Communion, is a spoken service in the cathedral. If you like to be at church bright and early, this service is for you.
  • Holy Eucharist at 9 a.m. is a service suitable for all ages but tailored to young families. Children actively engage in the readings, sermon, and Communion, and the choristers lead music. If you have young children or are young at heart, this service is particularly welcoming.
  • Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m., sometimes called Mass or Holy Communion,  is a splendid "cathedral" service. If great music with the Cathedral Choir and organ lift your spirit, you will find this service both exciting and inviting. Childcare provided at 10:45 a.m.
